I have a 733i 84 my differencial is no good the some one know if a diferencial for a 525 0r 535 will work at 733 or i nee to get one for a 733i Thnaks:)

Inherited Mom's low mileage 1970 Buick Skylark. Was running fine until I forgot to gas up! Put a gal. in tank, and it was running ok

Drove 100 ft. to busy intersection, and it died!

With cars repeatedly blocking me in, I tried, and tried to start it, ........no go! Got hand push back to lot, drops in carb, and running again. Drove some 10 blocks, filled tank, drove some 10 miles ok, in heat of day.

Days have passed with no trouble in heat of day, but mornings, (southern Calif), and evenings, and night causing numerous stallings. Car will restart fine, and run a block or whatever, and stall again, and again!

Early on, put fuel system cleaner in tank, and changed fuel filter. Later sprayed carb outside and inside. ......same scenario!

Why does it run fine when the weather is warm, and the car has not been warmed up otherwise?

Please help before some semi smashes me flat! If I had it, I could shove money at this problem for some time!

My 1989 6 cyl. Reatta fails to start on the first cold try. After a 4-5 second wait it will start on the second cranking attempt. When engine is warm it starts without delay.

Any thoughts, please?

Taurus will not start

[b]1998 FORD TAURUS; V-6; 3.0 DOC. 120,000 miles.[/b] While sitting at light, engine started shuttering, did not respond to accelerator, and then suddenly took off. A week later, did the same thing, but this time did not recover, and then died. Engine turned over, but would not start. Fuel pump and filter replaced. Mobile mechanic came by and plugged into computer, no fault codes. Coil pack, plugs, and camshaft position sensor replaced. Getting fire to plugs and injectors are receiving pulses. Can hear all injectors “clicking” while engine is turning over. Placing #1 at TDC compression checked timing, and the marks lined up. Fuel pressure at rail with key on is 42psi. All grounds cleaned and tightened. All fuses checked both inside and out of car. Wire looms inspected for chaffing and/or exposed wires. Just for kicks and grins, sprayed ether into intake, engine tried to run on the ether. I really need a fresh thought on something I may be missing…PLEASE HELP!

my 1997 Chevy Cavalier. I am very ignorant when it comes to car repairs. I had my battery light come on a couple of days ago and didn't have time to check the battery. The next thing I know all of my lights were coming on and my engine died. I bought a new battery and installed it. The car is running fine but the check engine light is still on. Just curious if there is anything that I can do to fix the car without having to spend a arm and leg having it fixed. Any advice at all would be extremly appreciated. I already checked the serpentine belt it is tight and there isn't any wear on the belt itself. Thank you for your help.

Knocking sound

Hello,

I have a 98 cavalier that when I turn right it makes this awful knocking sound that sounds like it is comming from the passenger side. You can also feel a slight shake in the car. I replaced the passenger side CV shaft to try to fix the problem and it didn't work. Did I replace the wrong side or is it something completely different?

I swapped a tranny from a 93 lesabre to a 95 and know the engine doesn't run correctly and the tranny is stuck in 3rd gear. Can I switch the controller from the old tranny to the new one. Any help would be great.

The engine light has been on in my 94' Grand Prix for several days now. I realized it when I was heading out somewhere, so I took the car back home. The car starts up just fine - without any hesitation. checked the wiring, but don't know what else could be wrong.

Oil light flickers

I have a 1992 Nissan Sentra over 170k on the odometer well the oil light flickers after i have been driving for awhile only when i come to a complete stop . I have checked the oil and the transmission on many ocassions and it is fine but the radiator seems to have oil leaking into it and empties fast but the oil is always full . Any suggestions ?

98 Honda Civic Needs Help!

I own a 1998 Honda Civic 4dr EX & was just involved in a front end accident on the left side. I really love this car & have only had it a month. I know nothing about mechaniac's! Basically the entire front fender is pushed into the hood. The strut assembly & all other components is obivously broken and needs to be repaired. The unibody is said to be bent but we don't knoe yet if its cracked. I had a mechaniac come & look at it & he quoted about $5,000.00 to fix and pound out the frame. From his opinion, he told me to junk it, it wouldn't be worth it. What does anyone think? I dopn't have alot of money to work with fixing it, but as far as I'm concerned it's better than having no car at all....
I was wondering if you could repaire the mechanical damage and deal with the frame work later?????? Please help

radiator leak

I replaced the thermistat on my 1997 Chrysler Town & Country minivan and per the directions in my manual, I drained enough coolant from the drain petcock to loewr the level below the intake hose. Now when I close the petcock, I have about a 1 drop per second leak. Any ideas? I have tried flushing the seat of the petcock with no luck.

I have a 1995 E-350 with the 351 5.8L. A few months ago I started hearing a loud high pitched wining noise that seamed to be coming from the alternator. I listened with a tube but since everything is so close and sounds transfer I had a heck of a time telling exactly where it was coming from. I put in a salvage alternator and to my surprise the noise was still present. I assumed that I had just got another alternator with the same whine as mine. Just yesterday I replaced the alternator with a brand new one and it did not fix the noise. I have changed the serpentine belt, the smog pump, and the alternator and still have the problem. The noise is intermittent and fluctuates with engine rpms. It seems less prevalent when warm and at higher speeds. Idling on cold mornings will wake up the neighborhood with a whiny annoying sound that comes and goes at unpredictable intervals. The noise seems to be coming from the alternator around the middle or toward the back but it could be traveling from somewhere else. I removed the serpentine and all pulleys move freely with no noise. I have a duel battery setup and I have unhooked the secondary because the battery is the original and it is dead. Could the alternator be working to hard and causing it to make the noise? Is it ok to leave the secondary battery unhooked? Any other ideas on the noise? It is getting me frustrated not to mention it is embarrassing and scares pedestrians and animals when it suddly decides to start whining. I thank you all for any opinions or ideas.

When driving at low speeds (especially when turning) I hear a "thunk...thunk...thunk..." sound. It seems like its coming from the rear of the car. If I press down on the brakes - the noise goes away. Any ideas or suggestions?

odd crown vic brake problem

Very odd problem crown vic 1994 . abs brakes. 2 years ago brake pedal vibrated while gently stopping at a slow speed.The car stopped smoothly.The pedal pulsed up and dowm rapidly for an instant.It only moved a fraction of an inch. It never did it again until a year and several thousand miles later same exact thing happened, and only once.
A week ago it did it again. Pads are new. rotors ok- Car stops smoothly. any one hear of this? I asked many mechanics and they have no clue.

2000 Buick Century won't start

Please help! I've got a 2000 Buick Century Custom 6-cyl. Motor says "3100 SFI" - it was run completely out of gas and now it won't start even though we've put over half a tank in. My dad is trying to fix it and he's sprayed starter fluid in the fuel pump and all, but it just doesn't seem to be getting fuel to the pump. He also can't seem to find the fuel filter. -- THANKS!

I hear a thumping sound that varies According to engine rpm.The air conditioner blows cold air,and the defrost works,but goes thump,thump,thump.Could this be low freon or a problem with the compressor? We recently had the front struts on our '01 Outback replaced. Evr since the springs sound and feel like they are binding or not turning freely. Is it possible that they are too tight? the dealer says there is nothing wrong.

scrapping sound in rear wheel when turning

anyone with any ideas on what may be causing a scrapping sound coming from one of my rear wheels when I make a right turn? I have a 97 Isuzu Rodeo with disc brakes on the rear. The backing plate was loose so I removed it. I thought the emergency brake shoes might have been scrapping the inside of the drum so I ran a grinder along the edge of the shoe but that didn't solve the problem. Anyone with any ideas?

more tranny troubles

I just purchased a 93 Honda Accord. It has a 4spd automatic with a 2.2 4cyl. When I bought it the tranny was fine but soon I sensed something might be going wrong. . .when I would ease of the gas at cruseing speed the tack would jump up about 300 rpm's. . .go back on the gas and I could feel the tranny engage. I put the car in the garoge for about two weeks so I could work on the brakes and the leaky gas tank. . .when i got it out of the garage I only had two gears left. . .I believe its 2nd and third. . .and I must manually shift between them. . .if the shift lever is in third the car tries to start in third . . .any ideas. . .? the car only has 128thousand on it.

My car shut off as I pulled out of my driveway yesterday. Then it would not crank. I lifted the hood this morning and pushed the spark plugs. One seemed to be up a little. It cranked then for a couple of minutes then shut off.

It will crank but does not crank. I wondered if it could be a problem with the gas. Maybe needs the fuel filter changes?

my wifes 1998 malibu has been acting stubborn for the past 2 weeks , when we accelerate from a stop , the engine studders quite abit and almost feels like lost compression or somthing , but eventually takes off , evan at highway speeds around 80 or 90 . i tried passing a vehicle and when i got into the passing lane , it started making a low rumble noise , grrrr. . Anyways I took it in to a friends shop and suggestted it should have the cat replaced and fuel filter . 180.00$ later the problem still exsists and also was told that i would have to replace the water pump because he noticed a small leak of antifreeze coming from under the car . The temp gauge evan running around town seems quite high halfway on the gauge at most times , also when we get out of the car we can smell a strong scent of antifreeze evan though i used ironite to slow the leak wich is a rad stopleak wich did seem to stop the little drip . I am wondering if the head is going bad or somthing ??. The oil is clean and not alot of white smoke coming out the pipe . I am just wondering if its worth the $$$ to fix it at 200,000 . and find more problems come within the next few months .

need help for trans. problem

What is does,once the trans gets hot,it down shift to low gear and
sometimes cut off the engine on low speed.the trans is stuck to
low gear and will not shift,even manually.
it will appear on the screen to bring unit to work shop for trans.
what has to be replace or what is to be done?
Can anyone pls advice.

99 yukon old body style. i have a dead battery over nite issue. i have narrowed it down to 3 fused circuits under the the hood of the truck.these are 50 amp fuses back to back.if i can find out what all they power i can find the culprit or culprits and repair them.i have a chilton and haynes manual and they are pretty vague on those individual power lines. any ideas ?they are 50 amp fuses thats a big fuse!
